Honey bee Honey bee queens and NUC colonies are seasonal, because queen mating requires warm weather, abundant drones, and nectar flow conditions that only occur during certain months.
Even though our bees fly all year here in Southwest Florida, Queens and NUCs can only be produced part of the year, which is why there are NO Queens nor NUCs available for sale from JANUARY-MARCH and after OCTOBER-DECEMBER
Some years we can start producing them earlier than others, some years we have to end earlier than others (due to weather - hurricanes or temperatures below 60F).queens and NUC colonies are seasonal, because queen mating requires warm weather, abundant drones, and nectar flow conditions that only occur during certain months.
